Piercing Policies & Age Requirements
Planning a new body piercing at Mad Ethel’s Tattoo in Downtown Raleigh, NC? Here’s what you need to know before you come in, including piercing age requirements, ID rules for minors, and appointment information so you know exactly what to bring and what to expect.
Before Your Piercing
Valid ID Required
All clients must provide a valid government-issued photo ID before receiving piercing services. Accepted photo IDs include a driver’s license or passport.
A release form is required at every visit, and a copy of your ID will be kept with your client record. All information is kept confidential.
Piercings for Minors
Mad Ethel’s offers select piercings for minors ages 10 and older. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the minor and provide a valid government-issued photo ID at every visit.
The minor must also provide one of the
following forms of identification:

Driver’s permit

Driver’s license
If the parent or legal guardian has a different last name from the minor, a birth certificate is required.
Specialized Piercing Appointments
A $25 deposit is required for specialized piercing appointments. The deposit is non-refundable and will be applied to the final cost of your piercing.
At least 72 hours’ notice is required to reschedule an appointment.

Piercings are by appointment Tuesday through Friday. If you’re hoping to walk in, stop by before 4 PM to see if we have same-day availability. Walk-ins are not guaranteed.
Saturday
11 AM–5 PM
Saturday is walk-in only. Piercings are first come, first served, and wait times can vary depending on how busy the shop is.
