Mad Ethel’s Tattoo & Body Piercing offers children’s earlobe piercing from age 10 in Downtown Raleigh’s Glenwood South. Here’s how to plan your visit, what identification to bring, and what to expect.
What age can children get their ears pierced?
Earlobe piercings start at age 10. We do not offer infant or baby ear piercing. Other ear placements have different minimum ages: most cartilage piercings start at 15, and industrial piercings at 16.

What identification should we bring?
Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with a valid government-issued photo ID at every visit. The minor must bring a birth certificate, passport, driver’s permit, or driver’s license. If last names differ, a birth certificate is required. A release form is completed at each visit.
What happens at the appointment?
Our resident piercer, Justin Koce, will talk you through placement, jewelry, and the piercing process before getting started. Let us know if your child is nervous. Questions are welcome. You’ll leave with aftercare guidance and information about any follow-up visits.
For cleaning, healing, or jewelry questions, follow the guidance provided at your appointment and contact us for piercing help. Jewelry changes and downsizing are booked as appointments.

When can we come in?
Tuesday–Friday, 11 AM–6 PM
By appointment. Same-day walk-ins may be available before 4 PM, but are not guaranteed.
Saturday, 11 AM–5 PM
Walk-ins only, first come, first served. Wait times vary.
