Planning a tattoo at Mad Ethel’s Tattoo in Downtown Raleigh, NC? Here’s what you need to know about age requirements, ID, deposits, cancellations, and appointments before you book.
Before Your Tattoo
Age & ID Requirements
You must be 18 years or older to get a tattoo in North Carolina. All clients are required to provide a valid government-issued photo ID before receiving tattoo services.
Accepted photo IDs include a driver’s license or passport.
A release form is required at every visit, and a copy of your ID will be kept with your client record. All information is kept confidential.
Tattoo Deposits
A $100 deposit is required to reserve your tattoo appointment and is applied toward the final cost of your tattoo. Deposits are non-refundable.
If you need to reschedule, your deposit may be transferred to a future appointment as long as the required notice is provided.
Rescheduling & Cancellations
We require at least 72 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a tattoo appointment.
With proper notice, your deposit may be kept on file for up to three months and applied to a future appointment.
Deposits are forfeited for late cancellations or rescheduling, no-shows, cancellations without plans to rebook, or appointments rescheduled more than twice.
Shop Minimum
Mad Ethel’s has a $100 shop minimum per person, per session.
The shop minimum applies to tattoo services regardless of the size or simplicity of the design. This covers the setup, sanitation, cleanup, and single-use supplies required for every tattoo.
Tattoo Appointments
Most tattoo appointments begin with a consultation request so our team can review your idea and help match you with the right artist. Once your project is accepted, the next steps may include scheduling a consultation, collecting your deposit, and booking your tattoo appointment.
Walk-Ins
Walk-in availability varies by artist and by day. If you’re hoping to get tattooed as a walk-in, call the shop or check our social media for current availability before stopping by.
