Our resident piercer Justin Koce offers professional ear, nose, facial, and body piercings at Mad Ethel’s in Downtown Raleigh’s Glenwood South, along with jewelry changes and ear styling. We take your comfort seriously, keep things clean and professional, and are always happy to answer questions along the way.

How to Book
Send a piercing request with the piercing you want and when you’re free. We’ll get back to you about booking an appointment or a consultation if you need one.
Age Requirements
Different piercings have different age requirements, with earlobe piercings starting at age 10. Anyone under 18 will need a parent or legal guardian with them, along with the required identification. Before your visit, check the age and ID requirements for the piercing you’re interested in so you know exactly what to bring.

Meet Justin, Mad Ethel’s resident piercer. Knowledgeable, laid back, and never interested in rushing you through your appointment, Justin takes the time to understand what you’re looking for and make sure you feel comfortable before anything starts.
He’ll talk you through placement, anatomy, jewelry, and aftercare, and if something isn’t the right fit, he’ll help you find an option that is. Whether it’s your first piercing or you’ve had plenty, questions are always welcome and the process stays professional, clean, and relaxed.

Piercings Requiring a Consultation
Some piercings need a little more planning before they’re booked. For placements where anatomy, tissue, jewelry, or healing can affect what will work, we start with a consultation to look at the area, talk through your goals, and figure out the best approach for you.
A consultation is required for:

Need help with a piercing you already have? Book an appointment for jewelry changes, downsizing, fit or placement questions, or help with a piercing that isn’t behaving the way you expected. We’re happy to help even if it was pierced somewhere else.

1. Tell us your idea
Send us a piercing request with what you have in mind. Know exactly what you want? Great. Still figuring it out? That’s completely fine too.
2. Plan your visit
We’ll let you know how to book and whether your piercing needs a consultation or anything else before your appointment.
3. Placement + jewelry
At your appointment, we’ll look at your anatomy, talk through placement, and help you choose jewelry that works for the piercing and the look you want.
4. Piercing + aftercare
We’ll walk you through the piercing before we start, then make sure you leave knowing how to care for it, what to expect while it heals, and when to come back for things like downsizing.
Some piercings require a consultation or additional planning before they’re booked. We’ll let you know exactly what you need when we review your request.

We’re at 215 Glenwood Ave, Suite D, in Raleigh’s Glenwood South district. Free customer parking and the shop entrance are behind the building.
Yes, depending on the day. Tuesday through Friday, piercings are by appointment, with possible same-day walk-in availability before 4 PM. Saturday is walk-in only from 11 AM–5 PM and services are first come, first served.
You don’t need to figure that out on your own. Justin will check the area you want pierced and talk through placement and jewelry. If it won’t work well for your body, he’ll explain why and help you explore another option.
The total depends on the piercing and the jewelry you choose. Tell us what you have in mind and ask about pricing before you come in. Have a budget? Mention it in your request so we can talk through your options.
Absolutely. Let Justin know you’re nervous and ask whatever’s on your mind. He’ll talk you through the placement, jewelry, and what to expect before getting started. You don’t need to know all the piercing terms to come in.
