How it Works
The Discovery Pico laser is the most advanced technology in tattoo removal. Where traditional tattoo removal lasers use a thermal heat approach to heat up the ink particles, the Pico Discovery uses a photoacoustic approach. This makes a huge difference in who can be a candidate for tattoo removal, and the overall outcome, with minimum discomfort and downtime for everyone across the board.
Pico Discovery's Photoaccoustic Approach:
The laser energy is projected into the the ink particles and absorbed by the particulate matter from within, causing the particles to break apart from the inside. The body's immune system then carries the particles away, causing the tattoo to fade and disappear. Pico Discovery's photoacoustic technology is the safest laser for all skin types and all ink colors.
Other Thermal Laser Approach:
Thermal lasers use heat to attack the ink particles from the outside. The heat is attracted to darker pigment. For this reason, darker skin tones often cannot use thermal lasers, because it can burn the skin. Similarly, lighter ink colors and tones cannot be removed entirely because they are not dark enough to attract enough the heat needed to break them apart. Treatments become increasingly aggressive in order to target the remaining ink particles with higher heat, resulting in greater risk and less effective outcomes.
